Monday, January 4 | Back to the top| ![]() Everyone wants to be your sun, but not me. I want to be your moon so I can light up your darkest moments when your sun isn't around. Yesterday, over dinner, I was discussing with Dad and Sister, which number to put in one of the sudoku boxes when we heard some shuffling outside our house. I peered out and saw a meek girl barely the age of eight or nine carrying a bouquet and a basket of hand-made flowers, which had almost covered half of her upper small frame. She stammered in such a quick pace that I could only picked out a few words but I did not need to know what she said to know she wanted to sell them; my heart went out to this petite girl. While most children of her age were getting ready for school the next day, this little girl and her older sister carried bulk bags of hand-made flowers and climbed up and down our block to sell them in order to earn some money for their parents. I have to admit that I admire her courage to speak to every household despite her tender age, cuz I know how difficult it is to approach your friends for help, let alone from strangers. It's simply demeaning... I really can't imagine what will become of me if our roles are switched. In the end, we decided to buy one from her. Looking at the piece of craft work, I can't help marvelling at it. I hope that little girl can earn something out of selling all these and her parents will get a job despite the economic turmoil. I wish her all the best!!! Sources: candiedclouds |
