ame36: Chronicles of SMILES
Saturday, July 3 | Back to the top|

One day, a millionaire decided that his son needed a taste of the life poor people were living in, so he sent his son to the countryside, where his friend resided, to witness their impoverished living conditions.
After staying there for a period of time, the son returned home and his father asked him,
"Do you know what is it like being poor?"
"Yes, I do, very clearly." The son replied.
"What do you know about it?"
The son replied,
"There is only one bird in the bird cage in our house but in the farmer's house, there are dogs, cows and even, many birds. Although our house has a swimming pool, there is an infinitely long stretch of river near their house. At night, our porch is illuminated by bright fluorescent lights, but the stars that sprinkled across the night sky light up theirs. We have maids serving our needs, but those people serve the needs of others. We have to buy our food at the nearest supermarket, but they plant and harvest food on their own. In our house, we face four dull walls, however, those people have friends surround them who will protect each other."
Hearing the son's reply, the millionaire was dumbstruck.
His son continued,
"Dad, thank you for letting me know how poor we are."

I came across this short meaningful story
which I felt I should share with everyone who reads my blog.
I do not think my translation of the story is perfect
since I feel that the meanings to some of the words used in the original piece
have been lost in process of choosing the right words for the translated one.
Moreover, language has never been my forte:P
so I would not mind if nice constructive criticism [NOT HARSH] is given:)
